DESIGN PROCESS

The interior design process varies from project to project and client to client. These guidelines are offered as a general roadmap as to what can be expected from a typical interior design project. In most cases where an architect is employed, the architect may take responsibility for technical code compliance issues as required by law.

Interview & Fact Finding

  • In-Depth interview to ensure designer/client compatibility
  • Identify project scope
  • Evaluate services required, customer needs, and overall design criteria to include: color and fabric schemes; floor, window, and wall treatments; bed coverings and lighting as required by the client.
  • Measure space
  • Acquire existing architectural plans
  • Review codes and zoning requirements
  • Written strategy proposal meeting project/client needs

Design Phase

  • Develop drawings and floor plans
  • Evaluate elevations if required
  • Select materials and finishes
  • Detailed presentation to client of plans, elevations, and materials to include:
    scaled plans, samples of proposed materials, finishes and colors, as well as sketches and/or photos of furnishings and treatments recommended
  • Develop revisions to initial design to meet client needs and submit project budget
  • Final client approval of the design plan to include budget

Project Execution Phase

  • Order and expedite approved items
  • Coordinate plans with architect as needed
  • Acquire contractor bids
  • Submit plans for code compliance
  • Develop timely installation and finishing schedule based upon approved design plans
  • Supervise project through completion
  • Ensure code compliance by contractors
  • Preliminary walkthrough with client after finishing schedule complete
  • Final walkthrough with client after all items delivered and construction completed
